A luxurious romantic outdoor marquee wedding in the majestic mountains of Robertson

When we first met Danielle and Johan we were struck by a gorgeous, dynamic, sporty couple who wanted an elegant sophisticated wedding that incorporated their love of sport, the great outdoors and their love of food and excellent wine. Both avid cyclists and trail runners Danielle and Johan opted for a destination wedding venue where they could enjoy the natural beauty that Cape Town has to offer.

Their chosen wedding venue, Pat Busch Mountain Lodge, is one of Boutique Events favourite wedding venues as the opportunities to plan bespoke blank canvas weddings is endless and Pat Busch boasts incredible mountain bike, running and hiking trails and many different options for your wedding ceremony, pre-drinks and wedding reception requirements.

The pre-wedding festivities kicked off with a traditional South African pootjie in special honour of their friends from the United Kingdom and the morning of the wedding had many energetic and avid sportsmen and women partaking of the incredible outdoor activities on the mountain reserve.

Danielle and her bridesmaids got ready in one of the ultra luxurious Africamp glamping tents overlooking the edge of the mountain reserve which meant complete privacy from all the guests which gave them a wonderful morning to relax and to have their bridal hair and make-up done by the very talented make-up artist Yolanda du Toit.

Danielle looked absolutely exquisite in her delicate sweetheart neckline lace wedding gown with beautiful long train and we loved the bridesmaids unique floral dresses.

Johan and his groomsmen spent the morning mountain biking and hiking and  had a chilled afternoon enjoying each others company overlooking the striking mountain views in the distant valley.

Danielle and Johan’s simple and intimate wedding ceremony took place in a hundred year old forest surrounded by their friends and family and the enchantment of mother nature.

Their beautiful and personal wedding ceremony was filled with special touches like a remembrance tree for past family members and family who could not attend their special day.

The clear span a-frame marquee for the wedding reception looked beautiful in the meadow framed by the Robertson mountains and due to the striking beauty of Pat Busch, we opted to incorporate as much of the natural surrounding beauty rather than over decorate the marquee.

A 15 meter long pastel colour suspended floral runner filled the marquee with the delicate fragrance of fresh garden roses and lilies and King Proteas with lots of candles adorned the wedding reception tables.

The pastel colour palette was inspired by the bridesmaids dresses and we incorporated shades of light grey, creams and dusty pinks into the wedding reception table decor to create a delicate romantic and subtle country chic ambiance.

Both avid foodies and wine connoisseurs, the entire menu was created around Danielle and Johan’s personal selection of wines from around South Africa. Every wine hand-picked by Danielle and Johan had a very special memory or story linked to the wine and the food was paired with their favourite selection of wines! From chucked oysters with champagne, to a biltong bar and cheese wheel wedding cake, no expense was spared in creating a truly spectacular gourmet feast for their wedding guests.

Simply Strings added an elegant sophistication to the afternoon pre-reception drinks soiree and guests were entertained by lawn games and Giant Jenga.
