Luxury Destination 10th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

    Majestic Moroccan-themed Anniversary Celebration

    Themed Destination 10th Wedding Anniversary

Kweku and Laurie’s opulent Moroccan-themed wedding anniversary celebration included 60 of their closest friends from Ghana, the UK, and the USA, who had previously attended their Cape Town wedding at The Twelve Apostles Hotel.

The extraordinary 10th wedding anniversary festivities spanned a weekend of luxury, pampering, fine dining and upmarket boutique hotel accommodation.

The gala event was a day and night to remember. Kweku and Laurie’s guests relaxed at their hotels until midday, but after that, the beauty preparations began. The ladies were treated to make-up and hair pampering sessions to prepare them for the Moroccan-themed soiree.

All the guests were dressed in themed attire (with some especially trotting off to Dubai to purchase their unique and stunning outfits) and looked magnificent! We think prizes should have been awarded for best dressed, although it would have been exceptionally hard to judge! Others had bespoke Kaftans and costumes specially designed for the celebration.

    Bespoke-themed design and styling details

The Moroccan-themed celebration occurred in a spectacular luxury villa in the millionaires’ mile suburb of Clifton on the slopes of Lion’s Head. Uninterrupted sea views, a stunning private residence, the setting sun… a perfect location for a night to remember! Our team went to extraordinary lengths to recreate Morocco in Clifton. The luxurious villa was restyled in a contemporary Moroccan theme with rich shades of red, burnt orange, gold, amber and blue. The warm colours and modern, uncluttered styling created a space with a plush ambience. Lighting was muted, and intricately filigreed lamps cast a mood-setting hue around the room and deck. Seating areas with oversized cushions and couches were scattered throughout the entertainment area and onto the Atlantic Ocean balcony. Richly coloured cream and gold-toned flowers added to the ambience, with delicate scents permeating the room.

Meticulous attention was paid to every detail, and the invitations, menu, and dance floor were elegantly designed, with a black and gold Moroccan insignia adorning all essential elements.

In their elegantly themed outfits, guests were greeted by drummers and themed Moroccan hosts and guided upstairs to the villa’s pool deck for welcome champagne and canapés. One of London’s top DJs, DJ Peekay, created a relaxed yet upbeat ambience for the arrival.

Guests arriving in the convoy were welcomed by Kweku and Laurie, who looked absolutely stunning in their bespoke Moroccan outfits. Laurie was breath-taking in an original black lace Kaftan with an exquisitely adorned gold crown, one of two outfits for that evening.

The Black Ties, one of South Africa’s top bands, entertained guests during sundowners and canapés while guests mingled and sipped champagne and custom-designed cocktails whilst having their hands and arms adorned with gold henna tattoos.

Moroccan-themed belly dancers and fire dancers performing to guests

Belly dancers and fire dancers entertained guests during courses

As the evening progressed, the Moroccan-style food, provided by well-known caterers, The Slippery Spoon Kitchen, was served in 4 courses on large Moroccan platters directly to the individual lounge pockets. Moroccan meatballs, Turkish fish grill, BBQ baby chickens, spiced prawn tails, homemade hummus, crispy courgettes, and so much more created a feast fit for royalty! As the sunset across the Atlantic Ocean, guests were surprised by a bevvy of belly dancers and energetic fire dancers who danced to a sultry rhythmic beat of drums and music.

After the final course was served, Laurie changed into a bespoke red lace Kaftan to party the night away under the stars and to the beat of DJ Peekay’s electric house mix.

When guests started departing well after midnight, they left with delicious midnight feast snack boxes filled with traditional South African snacks – a little taste of South Africa to tempt them to return to the Mother City again.
