There are weddings that feel like a holiday—and then there are weddings that feel like a homecoming for two cultures at once. Brenda (a South African bride) and Judicaël (a French groom) chose the Cape Winelands for exactly that reason: timeless scenery, meaningful tradition, and the kind of hospitality that turns a destination wedding into a once-in-a-lifetime gathering.

Bridal Party Moments
From a heartfelt Catholic ceremony in Stellenbosch to a golden-hour celebration in Vergelegen’s gardens, every moment was designed to feel joyful, elegant, and effortlessly summer.

A Catholic Ceremony in Stellenbosch
The day began with a classic Catholic ceremony—quietly moving, deeply personal, and beautifully rooted in tradition. Brenda’s modern bridal look balanced that timeless setting perfectly: clean lines, soft structure, and an understated confidence that let the emotion (and the joy) lead.

A Bright Summer Palette, Styled for the Winelands
For the styling, we leaned into the feeling of a late-summer garden in full bloom:
- Coral + tangerine blooms for energy and warmth
- Hot pink, fuchsia, and magenta for celebration and punch
- Soft blush + creamy whites to keep everything elevated and romantic
- Layered with natural textures—wood, linen-white table settings, and relaxed lounge furniture
The florals were deliberately “sun-drenched”: abundant and playful, with bright statement blooms nestled into softer whites to create contrast that photographed beautifully from day to night.
Outdoor Canapés in the Octagonal Gardens
After the ceremony, guests arrived at Vergelegen for a pre-reception that felt like a garden party—cocktail tables scattered across the lawn, a curated lounge setup, live music under the trees, and drinks flowing as the afternoon light softened.
That setting is exactly why Vergelegen works so well for destination weddings: it has the space, the atmosphere, and the sense of history that makes guests feel like they’re part of something special the moment they arrive.
Vergelegen’s gardens are a standout feature of the estate, designed as a series of “garden rooms” that change with the seasons—always beautiful, always layered.

Reception at Stables at Vergelegen
The reception moved into The Stables—refined, warm, and the perfect canvas for a long-table celebration.
Inside, crisp white linens and candlelight created a clean foundation, while the florals brought the drama: vibrant centrepieces running the length of the tables, with bold pops of pink and coral against clouds of white. The result was striking but still tasteful—exactly the kind of modern romance Brenda and Judicaël wanted.
(And yes—those oversized portrait moments added a seriously personal, gallery-like touch.)
Stables at Vergelegen is positioned as a venue for intimate weddings and celebrations, with dining and function options on the estate.

Why Vergelegen is a Dream Destination Wedding Venue
Part of Vergelegen’s magic is that it’s not just a wine estate—it’s a living piece of Cape heritage. The estate was founded on 1 February 1700 and its name means “situated far away”—a fitting description for a place that feels like a world of its own once you enter the gates.
Its heritage core includes historic buildings and sites that speak to centuries of layered history, surrounded by manicured lawns and gardens that make every transition—ceremony to drinks, portraits to reception—feel cinematic.
