For Shima’s multi-day destination birthday experience, we curated a five-day celebration that balanced effortless holiday energy with elevated detail — culminating in an elegant dinner accompanied by a live jazz band at the iconic Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel.
From golden-hour cocktails in the gardens to a candlelit long-table dinner in the Sherwood Room, the final evening was designed to feel intimate, glamorous, and deeply personal — a true “milestone moment,” styled with soft pink and cream florals and bespoke touches throughout.

Shima’s guests arrived in Cape Town ready for more than a party — they wanted an experience. Over five days, we planned a destination celebration that flowed naturally from relaxed daytime moments into refined evenings, with each element reflecting Shima’s personality: warm, stylish, and intentionally hosted.
The final night was the crescendo — a celebration that felt timeless and cinematic, with the kind of atmosphere you can’t manufacture: laughter carrying down a long dinner table, candlelight warming the room, and music drifting through the air as guests lingered long after dessert.

The evening began the way all great Cape Town celebrations should: outdoors, at sunset, with a sense of occasion — but never a hint of fuss.
We welcomed guests into the Mount Nelson gardens for cocktails as the light softened and the famous pink façade and manicured greenery set the tone. It was the perfect opening chapter: elegant, relaxed, and social — giving everyone space to arrive, reconnect, and settle into the rhythm of the night.

Dinner in the Sherwood Room — A Space with Remarkable Legacy
From the gardens, guests were invited into the Sherwood Room — an interior that embodies classic Cape Town grandeur: wood-panelled warmth, dramatic chandeliers, and an atmosphere that instantly elevates a celebration.
This is also a room known for hosting significant occasions. The Sherwood Room is recognised as the setting where Nelson Mandela hosted a state banquet — a detail that adds a powerful sense of history to any event held within its walls. And yet, for Shima’s dinner, it felt intimate rather than formal: a private celebration in a world-class setting, tailored entirely to her guests.

The Design Brief: Soft Pink & Cream Florals, Done the Luxury Way
Shima adores florals — and for this celebration, we leaned into that love with a soft pink and cream palette that felt romantic, modern, and completely timeless.
The long table was styled with lush floral arrangements in tonal blushes and creams, layered with delicate texture and gentle movement. Candlelight was essential: a mix of soft glowing votives and tapered candles created that warm, flattering “dinner party glow” — the kind that makes every photo feel like a memory.
Styled stationery completed the table story: elegant menus and place settings that tied the palette together without overpowering it. The overall effect was refined, feminine, and quietly extravagant — exactly as luxury should be.
